Roskilde

Royal cathedral of the Danish kings and Viking ships.

Trajet

35 min from Copenhagen

Roskilde, thirty-five minutes west of Copenhagen at the head of its fjord, was Denmark's medieval capital and remains the burial church of its monarchs. Roskilde Cathedral — the first Gothic cathedral in Scandinavia built of brick, a UNESCO World Heritage site — holds the tombs of forty Danish kings and queens across nine centuries. FFGR Denmark arranges private cathedral visits, sailings on a reconstructed Viking longship from the Viking Ship Museum where five original eleventh-century vessels are preserved, and fjord-side dining. Each summer the city hosts one of Europe's largest music festivals, for which discreet chauffeured arrivals are arranged well away from the crowds.
